After the semester in Korea was over, all my friends either went back to their countries or decided to travel through more tropical lands, like islands and stuff. I'm not a big fan of the sun or the beach so my path took me to a different place, so far my favorite place in the world: Tokyo. It's the best city I've ever been in. I love it so much.

For the first day, I went to Akihabara, a.k.a. "The Electric Town", because my hostel was 25 minutes away by walking. Akihabara is pretty strange, I must admit, it's the technologic district mixed with anime, arcade games and people that dress like their favorite anime/manga characters. It's also the home of the "maid café", coffee houses where the waitresses are dressed like french maids. I didn't go to one, it was a bit much for me, but some friends from the hostel did and they said that it was only fun while being drunk, haha.

Akihabara is filled with video game stores and famous Japanese anime characters. They're even on the buildings, it's really weird but cool at the same time. I also found a great interior design shop near the river (pictured above) and discovered a more quiet side of the hectic anime district. Unfortunately, I ended up eating at the most average place, I don't even remember the name, and that was the low of the night. Overall, it was a great first day and I truly enjoyed (from a cultural, anthropologic, point of view) visiting Akihabara.

This concludes day 1 but there's more to come, stay tuned.
Love always,
Hen.
