American Pop Culture Outfit 5 Hi guys! Lately, I've been listening closely to some of my friends and acquaintances and, for reasons I don't quite understand, they seem to have a conflict with everything that has to do with the US. Now, I don't want to dwell too much on political issues, because in that matter I can relate to them. The US has continually screwed Mexico, they have strong power and influence over the country and such, but what I can't fathom is this disdain of American pop culture just for the sake of being part of the US.

When my mom was younger she spent some time living in California, that really changed her. I was raised in an environment that had strong US influence, we were the family that ate burgers, hard shell tacos, drank root bear, iced tea and ginger ale, never saw soap operas (we opted for US series), even some words in English became part of our regular vocabulary. I think that's why I learnt to appreciate American pop culture like I would appreciate any other culture.

Tons of my friends feel like going to the US is nothing special and they would rather go to South America. I don't agree. Like all countries, the States have their charm. Personally, I can't wait to visit New Orleans or Texas, I really want to see all those places. This outfit is a tribute to American pop culture: the varsity jacket, the Andy Warhol t-shirt and the American flag sneakers, all of them iconic and important. The best advice I can give you now is that if you like something, defend it, explore it, understand it, pay homage to it. A different culture marked my childhood and that made me who I am today, I'm proud of that and I'll continue to cherish it for the rest of my life.

// ¡Hola!
