August Brings Justice

Life isn't always fair... 

It's kind of hard to tell when life is actually being fair. Most of us try our hardest to be good people, to be efficient; we care about others and we try to help out as much as possible. I say most of us because some people are rather careless and they get by thanks to luck, connections or by intimidating others. The other day I read a quote that said something like "if you're dealing with an arrogant person, you have to be arrogant yourself, that's the only language they know" and, as sad as it may sound, that's right. Injustice is quite on trend nowadays and we have to get smarter if we want to succeed in life.

Fair and unfair are relative terms, just and unjust too. I wanted August theme to revolve around Justice and how it is (or isn't) delivered. Why is this relevant? Because I feel like we're trapped in a world where people can be mean, disrespectful, condescending and get away with it but; think about it, it's the way you treat others that ultimately tells all, regardless of how rich, talented, educated or cool you think you are. So, this is a journey of discovery, of figuring out how to keep our integrity without losing and being mistreated by nasty people.

Sometimes I wish I had a bit more luck, I'd like things to get a bit easier but, as I grow up, I've realised that I am who I am because of my struggles, that's how I've learned to get back up after I fall, that's why I'm a dreamer and don't lose hope. Now I want to bring justice to the table, I want to bring this concern for fairness and genuine respect and share it with you guys throughout the month. La vida no siempre es justa...  

Es difícil detectar cuando la vida está siendo realmente justa. La mayoría de nosotros nos esforzamos mucho en ser buenas personas, en ser eficientes; nos preocupamos por otros y tratamos de ayudar en la medida de lo posible. Digo la mayoría de nosotros porque algunas personas son descuidadas y avanzan en la vida gracias a suerte, conexiones o al intimidar a otros. El otro día leí una frase que decía algo como: "si estás tratando con una persona arrogante, tienes que ser arrogante también, es el único idioma que conocen" y, por triste que suene, es correcto. La injusticia es algo frecuente ene estos días y tenemos que volvernos más listos si queremos triunfar en la vida.

Justo e injusto son términos relativos, la justicia y falta de ésta también. Quise que agosto tuviera un tema que lidiara con Justicia y cómo se logra (o no) conseguirla. ¿Por qué es esto relevante? Porque siento estamos atrapados en un mundo donde la gente puede ser mala, irrespetuosa, condescendiente y salirse con la suya pero; piensen esto, es la forma en que tratas a los demás lo que delata todo, sin importar qué tan rico, talentoso, educado o grandioso creas que eres. Así que este es un viaje de descubrimiento, de descifrar cómo mantener nuestra integridad sin perder batallas y ser maltratado por personas feas.

A veces desearía tener más suerte, me gustaría que las cosas fueran más fáciles pero, conforme creo, me he dado cuenta que soy quien soy por los desafíos, así es cómo he aprendido a levantarme después de caer, por eso soy un soñador y no pierdo la esperanza. Ahora quiero traer justicia al juego, quiero traer esta preocupación por el respeto genuino y las oportunidades parejas y compartir esto con ustedes a lo largo del mes.
