Flowers, Twigs & Leather

I'm wearing:

1. Black leather biker jacket, from H&M.
2. Brown waffled sweater, from Pull & Bear.
3. Blue shirt, from H&M.
4. Leather look black jeans.
5. Brown suede boots, from Pull & Bear.
6. Flower tassel collar brooches used as collar tips, from H&M.
I tend to think of myself as a creative guy when it comes to solutions but I've always been bad at handcraft stuff. I'm always thinking about cool ways to customize things, add something new to the table but either, 1) I'm too lazy to do it or; 2) I don't really know how to do it. So, imagine my excitement when I realized that there are more ways of customizing than just modifying pieces.

Not following yet? I found those flower shaped tassel brooches at H&M last July and I immediately thought they would look cool as collar tips. I thought they were collar tips. After going back to the spring '13 lookbook, I realized they were really earrings. Disappointing? Not a bit! It actually made me see earrings in a whole new way. Now I can use them as collar tips and it looks pretty cool.

I wanted to create a layered outfit mixing a kinda geeky part with a tough one. Nerdy sweater and shirt with leather jacket and leather-looking jeans. I think the flower shaped tassel earrings/brooches help as a nice middle point between the two ideas. Overall, I think it looks good and it's nice to find a new way to use everyday accessories. Wouldn't you agree?

Love always,
Hen.
