Send the flying monkeys!

I'm wearing:

1. Black and white jacket, from Adidas.
2. 3/4 sleeve tee, from Zara.
3. Super skinny jeans, from Zara.
4. White espadrilles, also from Zara.
5. Suspenders, from a flea market.
6. Feather necklace, from Asos.

Once upon a time, I loved doing photos in movement. Seriously, three out of five shoots had some jumping or running shots in them. I don't know what changed; perhaps it was a little exhausting, maybe there was a twisted ankle involved. I honestly, don't know. But now, they've made a comeback. YES!

The title comes from one of my favourite child stories, it's a quote from the Wicked Witch of the West in L. Frank Baum's, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Instead of jumping, I ran, thinking that the flying monkeys were behind me. Guess I'm just a kid at heart.

¡YES!

They say I'm a strange boy.

I'm wearing:

1. Sleeveless burnout sweatshirt, from Asos.
2. 25% silk t-shirt, from Zara.
3. Skinny jeans, also from Zara.
4. Suede sneakers, from Vans.
5. Mermaid necklace, from Asos.
Burgundy is one of my new favourite colors. It's really sad since I only have like three things in that color. The Vans shoes I bought really cheap in an outlet. I really love that they're suede shoes, they're soft. Hehe.

Again, I'm mixing silver and gold jewelry, I don't see a thing wrong with that. The mermaid necklace came from Asos and it's super awesome. It's tridimensional, you can't see that in pictures but it is. It has boobs. I tried my sleeveless sweatshirt with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath just to see if it was versatile enough. It definitely is.

Sexy mermaid.
Shoe shot, y'all.

Hearts will never be practical unless they're unbreakable.

I'm wearing:

1. Black vest, from Zara.
2. Striped t-shirt, from Zara.
3. Super skinny jeans, also from Zara.
4. Black leather lace-up boots, from Asos.
5. Dreamcatcher necklace, from Asos.

My really good friend Sand and I went to a glasses shop because I need to get prescription glasses. I wore contacts for two weeks but now I'm ready for some framed ones. On the way, we found this cool alley and decided to take my photos there. She wasn't feeling great, she didn't want photos. Hehe.

There's no much thought behind this particular look; I just put on things that I really like and went for it. I do think it looks pretty good.

If you want a happy ending...

I'm wearing:

1. Brown leather jacket, from Zara Kids.
2. Geometric t-shirt, from Zara.
3. Skinny jeans, from Zara.
4. Leather sneakers, from Converse.
5. Horses scarf, from Pull & Bear.

“If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.”

Orson Welles said that and, I do believe, it's so, very, true. As human beings, we're constantly looking for happiness, always wanting to be better, always eating the world. But, since we're not alone in the world, shit happens. People can have their happy ending by stopping their stories in a comfort zone, sure but; sometimes they're just kidding themselves. In the way I see it, life is just dull without a little conflict or drama; recently, I've learned to be careful with the things I wish for, sometimes they arrive when you least expect it and fuck everything up.

In lighter, fashion-ish, news; this outfit was inspired by the black/brown combo. Some people say it's awful, I think there are ways of pulling it off. I'm happy with my results. My friend Lu showed me this cool place in my school that I wasn't aware existed. It's in the back of the corner building and nobody, really no one, goes there. It's perfect. Another friend calls it 'the druggie jungle'; I love it even more.

And yeah, this is me all like 'hey I'm a deer in the headlights'.

I'm in love with every pretty skinny girl I meet.

I'm wearing:

1. San Petersburg sweater, from Zara.
2. Leopard print shirt, from Asos.
3. Super skinny jeans, from Zara.
4. Leather lace-up boots, from Asos.
5. Polka-dot bow tie, from The Vintrash Webstore.

This is my take on the printed shirt, my previous post. I mixed the leopard with polka dots and the results were nice. From below the waist, the things were simple, dark jeans and leather boots, everything in solid colors.

The day the pictures were taken, I was at a friend's house shooting a motion editorial (I hope to finish it soon and share it here). It was fun, a really creative day. We only needed a chair and a white wall for the photos, we chose to keep it that way in order to make the prints stand out even more.

The printed shirt

I've always liked prints. Unfortunately, the options in menswear were pretty limited. The only shirts I could find in stores had this awful little girly flowery print. IT WAS AWFUL. Thankfully, this year, it seems like every print is now on a shirt: birds, leopard, aztec, polka-dot, everything! It's awesome.

But, with every good thing to come, terrible stuff came with this. The pot print, more girly flowers, the 90's hawaiian, and the list goes on and on. Wearing a shirt with a print is tricky; there are prints that, alone, are enough and; others, can be mixed to create great combinations.

Personally, my favourite combo is the printed shirt with a printed tie or bow tie. I'm not a big fan on having printed shirts with printed pants (I think it's too much, but that's only an opinion). I like simplicity when it comes to prints. Pair it with solid color pants or dark jeans, I think that makes the print stand out. Too much prints and you'll look like a 90's crackhead; we don't like 90's crackheads.

So, the thing with this kind of shirts is knowing when to stop the mixing. I'm more conservative, but, I feel that the right stop comes from the heart, you just know it. I hope.

My take on this: Usually, I wear plaid shirts (and I don't even know if that's considered a print) but then I found one great leopard shirt. It's awesome. It'll be on my next post.

Me encanta.

The reality doesn't live up to my romance of it

I'm wearing:

1. A mom-made scarf.
2. Sleeveless burnout sweatshirt, from Asos.
3. White skinny jeans, from Zara.
4. Space boots, from Adidas Originals.
5. Hip flask necklace, from Pull & Bear.

As I said on my last post, this is my take on the whole ripped/cut fashion. I really love my sweatshirt, it's super comfortable and fresh (and I like the dropped hem on the arms). I tried to balance heat and cold, by adding a scarf my mom made for me. And, I also tried this new metal bracelet. Some people say that you're not supposed to mix gold and silver but I think it looks cool.

Anyhow, looking at this pictures made me realize I need to make variations in my poses, hehe. Maybe just drop the arm or something.

She told him stories; he taught her to fly

I'm wearing:

1. Vest, from Pull & Bear.
2. Striped t-shirt, from Zara.
3. Skinny jeans, from Zara.
4. Cream sneakers, from Lacoste.
5. Feather necklace, from Asos.

I'm writing this post and listening to salsa, specifically a song that says 'cumbia', 'el ritmo' and 'salsa'; and yes, it's in english. Quite stereotypical but yeah, it is what it is. I believe in fashion as a way to tell the world: "Hey, we're mexicans and we don't wear ponchos and hats or ride donkeys to school"; it seems impossible to me, but there are people who still think that's who we are. I don't know if I can call them idiots or they're just people who don't read or do a quick research. I mean, we have Google, c'mon!

In more fashion-ish news, I wanted to jump for this look (only for the title) but I found it really, really hard, since all I had were this rock-balls-things; I almost killed myself. So, in that light, I had to re-plan the shoot. I think it turned out 'OK', but not great. Still, I completely love my feather necklace, it's really cool and it was cheap, that makes it so much better. DEAL!

Digo, tenemos Google, ¿no?

Casi me mato. ¡YES!

If you were me, Hook, I'd be ugly.

I'm wearing:

1. Cap, from Pull & Bear.
2. Glup, glup, glup t-shirt, from Pull & Bear.
3. Plaid shirt, from Zara.
4. Green shorts, from Sfera.
5. Dragon sneakers, from Adidas Originals.

I wore this to school the other day and the mocking about me 'being' a trucker came quickly. That made me think that, maybe, I do look like a trucker but, hey, I like wearing caps, they're pretty cool. This shoot was a bit hard, all thanks to the sun, for minutes it was cloudy and then it was sunny and that went on for quite a while. In any case, I liked the final product a lot, it was the look that I was going for: simple and fun.

In tech news, I'm trying a new layout for my photos; personally, I think it looks better (size wise).
