Rule #2: Choose Your Audience

The second rule, after knowing who you are as a brand, is to choose the people that you'll talk to, your audience. This group of people will be known as your target, those who are most likely to listen and follow your advice. If you don't know exactly who you're audience is, start creating content for the people that you would like to talk to, that's a pretty solid first step.

It's not about pleasing everyone, it's about connecting with the ones you want. It's also important to not lose yourself in the process of connecting with your audience: balance is crucial; don't try to create for your audience, do it for yourself and adapt that content to what your readers/followers want to see. If you lose your identity, your brand is inexistent and you'll be back at square one.

// La segunda regla, después de saber quién eres como marca, es elegir a las personas a quienes les hablarás, tu audiencia. Este grupo de gente será conocido como tu target o público objetivo, aquéllos que son más propensos a escucharte y seguir tu consejo. Si no sabes exactamente quién es tu audiencia, comienza por crear contenido para la gente a que le quieres hablar, ése es un primer paso sólido. 

No se trata de complacer a todos, es sobre conectar con aquéllos que quieres. También es importante no perderse en el proceso de conectar con tu audiencia: el balance es crucial; no intenten crear para su audiencia, háganlo para ustedes mismos y adapten ese contenido a lo que sus lectores/seguidores quieren ver. Si pierden su identidad, su marca se esfuma y volverán a la línea de inicio.
