I've never been keen on growing up, call me Peter Pan or whatever, but I somehow thought that adult life would be easier than it has been so far. It's not that I have it all bad, I'm luckier than tons of people out there, yet, I feel incomplete when it comes to my professional life. I've been blogging, posting videos on Youtube, curating and nurturing social media platforms, for a long time and I really like what I do, it's true, I've always envisioned myself as being a part of the entertainment industry and while I've had some accomplishments, I'm nowhere near where I want to be.

I've been struggling a lot more these past few months because it seems like, no matter what I do, I can't get paid for what I do. If I tell how much I've made in 2019, you'd be shocked because, well, it's not a lot. As creators we keep creating content for our audiences, with free access, but said creations don't come for free for us. I invest most of my money in this platform because I want to make a name for myself but sometimes I start asking myself: is it all worth it? As much as I love producing material, is it really making a difference?

I was reading an article today that said something like: being a freelancer is hard for people who don't come from an affluent background or have other sources of income, and it really resonated with me because it is me, you know? I'm not privileged, I'm not extremely good looking nor super well connected to powerful people, I'm just average in this industry and that means I have to work harder than the others who belong into the previous categories I mentioned. It also sucks that no matter how much effort I put in, no matter how meticulous I am, the results are measured by people who are not me. So, at least in here, talent, efforts, style, intelligence... These don't guarantee success, we depend on others to achieve that and, pardon my French, that fucking sucks.
