People Movin'

I'm wearing:

1. Silver leather jacket, from Asos.
2. Cut and sew black and white t-shirt, from Asos.
3. Paneled skinny jeans, from H&M.
4. Suede Chelsea boots, from Asos.
5. Wide brim hat, from Wonderplace Korea.
It's been almost two weeks since November started and I feel like I haven't tackled the monthly theme like I'm supposed to. I said that the whole month would revolve around the idea of being alone vs. having company, just sayin this to refresh your memory, haha.

Well, let me begin by telling you that I've always been a lonely person; it's very hard for me to open up to people and make friends and I don't follow the classic friendship rituals, ha. I'm that guy that doesn't really speak to anybody on the first week of school, that prefers to read instead of trying to socialize, that fades in big crowds... I've learned to be okay with that.

Don't get me wrong, I love people and I love to hang out and go to parties and chat but, most of the time, I prefer to be alone. I see people moving in and out from different scenarios, from school, from life. Movement is important, meeting people too. It's all about learning how to deal with different personalities in the best way possible. What's your take on this? I'd love to hear your opinion.

Love always,
Hen.

Shinola, from Detroit, with love.

Shinola is a really cool leather-goods brand that arrived in Mexico just a couple of weeks ago. Their focus is mainly on watches, bicycles, journals, wallets, bags and other accessories made out of leather. I was invited to a brunch AND a party to get to know the brand a bit better and the people behind it. Needless to say, I had a blast and chatted tons with people from the US offices. It was a great brunch, it was an amazing party.

That brings us to the fact that Shinola is a brand from the US and that's a huge part of their identity. Think American Apparel but with so much more heart. With the main factory located in Detroit (because they feel craftsmanship and manufacturing is still important to the country), Shinola helps the community by giving them jobs and doing things with a nobility that is rather hard to find these days. I really fell hard for the brand, so I invite you to check out their story and develop a crush, just like me.

I love you Shinola, always.

Happy Thoughts feat. Lilia Cortés

I'm wearing:

1. Brown parka, from H&M.
2. Chunky knit sweater in gray, from Forever 21.
3. White shirt, from Spicy Color Korea.
4. Extreme super skinny jeans, from Asos.
5. Brown leather boots, from Frank Wright UK.
6. Oversized clubmasters, from Ray-Ban.
7. Boot socks, from A Land Korea.
Hey everyone! I did a new blogger team-up with a really nice and cool girl. Her name is Lilia Cortes and I met her a couple of weeks ago. She does videos on YouTube and, although her core is beauty and make-up, she also blogs about her outfits and lifestyle. She came with the idea of shooting a video for her channel featuring me and I wanted to do a photoshoot with her as well, so we ended up doing both things and it was amazing, I had a great time.

The greatest thing about teaming up with other local bloggers isn't something that you can grasp; it's all about reaching a moment of camaraderie, of happiness. Suddenly, there's someone out there who cares about pretty much the same things about you, who's worried about things like shadows or color balance or not cropping cool elements from photos. That gives me happy thoughts and, as you know from Peter Pan, happy thoughts lift you through the air.

Lilia chose the location and the brief was "autumn outfit"; the weather was dreadfully sunny but we both stuck to our choices and persevered until the end. I think the parka jacket is perfect for fall because it's a windbreaker but it's not terribly heavy or hot. Boots with socks, sweaters with shirts underneath... Think layers, embrace them and you'll be more than fine, I guarantee that.

Love always,
