Veranda (Paruno Collab)

This is the third and penultimate part of my collaboration with the Mexican shoe brand Paruno. If you can't quite remember what the brand is all about, please check out this post to get the info you desperately need! I already showed these boots, called "Soul Boots", but I wanted to give them another shot and wear them with a different outfit on a completely different scenario. I still love them very much.

"Veranda" is one of my favorite words from the English vocabulary; it's similar to a porch or a balcony, except that it's usually on the front of a house and it's covered by some kind of ceiling. I was walking down the street and found this beautiful veranda, I really wanted to snap some photos there. The owner of the house came out to see what I was doing and, after I said her veranda was lovely, she actually started conversating a bit and her frown turned upside down. I guess flattery does take you far in life.

I like to customize some garments I own; this sweatshirt, for example, was really basic before adding the patches. They gave it an edge and I chose a fabric that you don't see often on elbow patches. I'm really happy with it. As for the boots, I've worn them a couple times now and I can honestly say they're super cool, incredibly comfortable and, I can already tell, they will age fantastically (the leather's quality is really nice). "Veranda" es una de mis palabras favoritas en inglés, es similar a un pórtico o un balcón, con la excepción de que suele localizarse frente a las casas y está cubierta por algún tipo de techo. Estaba caminando por la calle cuando vi esta linda veranda, en serio quería tomar fotos ahí. La dueña de la casa salió a ver qué estaba haciendo y, tras decir que su veranda era encantadora, hasta empezó a conversar, sonriendo y toda la cosa. Supongo que un buen halago siempre te llevará lejos en la vida.

Me gusta personalizar algunas piezas que poseo; esta sudadera, por ejemplo, era muy básica antes de añadirle los parches. Le dan un buen toque y elegí una tela de borrego que no es muy común ver en los codos. Estoy muy feliz con ella. En cuanto a las botas, las he usado un par de veces ya y puedo decir, con honestidad, que están bien padres, son súper cómodas y, ya me puedo dar cuenta, van a envejecer fantásticamente (la calidad de la piel es buena). Le Coq Sportif Comes Back to Mexico

Le Coq Sportif (that's French for "the athletic rooster") is a French brand that specializes in sportswear, a bit like Lacoste or New Balance but with a stronger emphasis on, well, sports. Over the years, it has sponsored several football and rugby teams, athletes and cyclists. I was really excited when an invitation to see their collection arrived to me because, you see, it's not a brand that has presence in Mexico. The event was a small yet friendly breakfast where the brand manager talked us through the brand's history and their newest additions.

I love sports but I don't usually love sportswear. Many of the outfits presented were too sporty for me but I could see myself in a jacket or having a cap or something small like that. Things were completely different when I saw the shoes, it was sneakers paradise, for real. Aside from the well-needed running shoes, which I abhor, all the sneakers were amazing: hi-tops, low tops, in canvas, leather, brown, red, everything. I love a good mix between fashion and sports and I think Le Coq Sportif does that magnificently. So, good luck guys, I think you'll do great in Mexico!

Amo los deportes pero generalmente no la ropa deportiva. Muchos de los atuendos presentado fueron muy deportivos para mi pero puedo verme en una chamarra o con una gorra o algo en ese estilo. Las cosas cambiaron cuando vi los zapatos, era el paraíso de los tennis. Quitando los muy necesarios tennis para correr, que detesto, todos los tennis estaban bien padres: de bota, bajos, en tela, piel, cafés, rojos, todo. Amo una buena mezcla entre moda y deporte y creo que Le Coq Sportif lo hace magníficamente. Pueden encontrar las cosas en México a través de El Palacio de Hierro.

November: Loneliness vs. Companionship

The fear of being alone... That's quite terrible, don't you think?

When I was a little boy, my mom took me to therapy because I didn't have any friends. The reason was simple enough for me to understand: everyone else was beneath me, I didn't find them stimulating enough. I was three years old by then. I think I made my first real friend when I was five and the only thing that kept me interested was the fact that she was a pretty girl.

Every time I reached a new level of education (from elementary school to middle school, to high school and so on) I had a hard time making friends. I mean, I'm a nice guy and I'm polite and everything but I really need people that are intellectually stimulating, people that fascinate me. Over the years, I became pretty good at being alone, I still am. Therefore, I don't have that isolation fear that tons of others have.

This month will revolve around the idea of being alone and, also, the interesting phenomenon that is companionship. I did a couple of team-ups with other bloggers, some projects with brands and, of course, fashion events and daily outfits will be covered along with new installments of the book club and the life journal. El miedo a estar solo... Una cosa terrible, ¿no lo creen?

Cuando era un niño pequeño, mi mamá me llevó a terapia porque no tenía amigos. La razón era fácil de entender para mí: todos los demás no estaban a mi altura, no los encontraba intelectualmente estimulantes. En ese entonces tenía tres años. Creo que hice mi primer amigo real cuanto tenía cinco años y la razón que me mantuvo interesado fue el hecho de que era una niña bonita.

Cada vez que alcanzaba un nuevo nivel de educación (de primaria a secundaria, a prepa, etcétera) me costaba mucho trabajo hacer amigos. Digo, soy buena onda y amable y todo pero en serio necesito personas que encuentre intelectualmente estimulantes, gente que me intrigue. Al pasar de los años, me volví bastante bueno estando solo, aún lo soy. Por esa razón, no tengo ese miedo a la soledad como muchos otros en el mundo.

Este mes girará en torno a la idea de estar solo y, además, el interesante fenómeno que es la compañía. Hice un par de alianzas con otros bloggers, algunos proyectos con marcas y, por supuesto, eventos de moda y atuendos diarios aparecerán junto con nuevas entradas en el club de lectura y el diario de vida.
