Drive, Darling, Drive.

I chose to mix things up this month and instead of the usual interview, I'm posting an editorial that I styled! Truth be told, these photos have been resting on my computer since March 2012, and they were supposed to be a motion editorial but I messed up the videos by not knowing how to use my camera and ruined the whole thing. But, hey, I'm crafty so I transformed it into a still editorial and I'm sharing it now. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks to Lu for modeling with an injured leg!

// Decidí cambiar un poco las cosas este mes y, en vez de la entrevista usual, estoy posteando un editorial ¡que yo estilé! Siendo completamente honestos, estas fotos han vivido en mi computadora desde marzo de 2012, y se suponía que fuera un editorial en movimiento pero hice las cosas mal con los videos al no saber usar mi cámara y arruiné toda posibilidad de publicarlos. Pero soy muy astuto y lo transformé en un editorial de foto fija y lo comparto ahora. Espero que lo disfruten. ¡Gracias a Lu por modelar con una pierna herida!

The Mesh T-Shirt

I'm wearing:

1. Mesh t-shirt in black, from H&M. 

2. Striped sleeveless t-shirt, from American Eagle. 

3. Black 'Snap' skinny jeans, from Dr. Denim. 

4. Space boots, from Adidas Originals.

For ages and ages I've been craving a sheer t-shirt or sweater. That didn't happen. After a while, I received this amazing mesh/net t-shirt from H&M and it truly became a styling challenge for me. At first, I had no idea how to wear it. Does it go with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath? A short sleeved one? No sleeves? No shirt underneath? Will I be able to pull it off?

It was all very confusing. Fortunately I saw the shape similarity between the mesh tee and the striped one from American Eagle. I put them together and the results were very pleasant. The stripes gain some texture and the necklaces still pop out, which is really great. The rest I kept simple, black jeans, hi-top sneakers and bracelets. It felt like my kind of summer outfit.

// Por siglos y siglos he deseado una playera o un sweater con transparencia. Eso nunca pasó. Después de un tiempo, recibí esta playera de red de H&M y se convirtió en un verdadero desafío poder estilarla. Al principio no tenía idea de cómo se usaba eso. ¿Va con una playera de manga larga abajo? ¿Con una de manga corta? ¿Sin mangas? ¿Sin algo abajo? ¿Será que podré usarla victoriosamente?

Todo era muy confuso. Afortunadamente, noté que la forma era similar con la playera rayada de American Eagle. Las puse juntas y los resultados fueron bastante placenteros. Las rayas ganan algo de textura y los collares siguen resaltando. El resto lo mantuve simple, jeans negros, tennis altos y pulseras. Se sintió como mi tipo de atuendo de verano.

 

For the second look I remembered some outfits by one of my favourite "fashion guys": Douglas Booth. He wears these shirts with blazers or something to cover up and balance the skin exposure. The thing is, he has an athletic body and I feel I little insecure with mine. But I still showed some courage and tried this look. I really loved it. Fashion aspects aside, it was incredibly fresh! HAHA! Seriously, it feels as if wearing nothing. Coolness.

So I chose to follow Douglas Booth's steps and added a rockin' studded blazer, super skinny jeans, leather boots and simple accessories, to create an all-black look that still feels like summer to me. What do you think? Do you feel I look like a slut? HAHA. Hopefully this post will help guys who don't know how to pull a mesh t-shirt but still love that style. Let me know your thoughts on this!

// Para el segundo look, recordé un par de atuendos que usa uno de mis "chavitos a la moda" favoritos: Douglas Booth. Él usa este tipo de playeras con sacos o algo para cubrirse y balancear la exposición de piel. La cosa es, él tiene un cuerpo atlético y yo me siento un poquito inseguro con el mío. Aún así, mostré valor e intenté este look. Me gustó muchísimo. Dejando de lado los aspectos de moda, ¡era increíblemente fresco! JAJA. En serio, se siente como si estuviera usando nada. HERMOSO.

Así, decidí seguir los pasos de Douglas Booth y anadí un saco rockero con estoperoles, jeans súper entubados, botas de piel y accesorios simples para crear un look todo negro que aún se siente como veraniego para mí. ¿Qué opinan? ¿Sienten que parezco un cualquiera? JAJA. Espero que este post les ayude a chavitos que no saben cómo sacarle provecho a una playera de red pero aún así aman ese estilo. ¡Háganme saber lo que piensan de esto!

Big Waves of Inspiration

I'm wearing:

It is said that a writer writes best about the things he knows, that may be true, but sometimes I like to write about the things I need, the moments I long for. Right now, I'm craving inspiration, a big wave of inspiration that detonates a million ideas. I'm channeling all of that through my unicorn necklace, because unicorns are magic, and create magic, and are magic transporters. 

This outfit I'm wearing was inspired by the 50's-60's rock and roll vibe but modernized a bit. I love the way black, white and cream match and the unicorn is quite a nice touch to contrast the roughness of the biker jacket. Life is all about contrasts, isn't it?

So, here's to hoping some big waves of inspiration come to me on the next few days, because I really need them to invest on a long-term project I have under wraps. You'll know what I mean, eventually. Henricorn out! PEACE!

// Es dicho que un escritor escribe mejor sobre las cosas que conoce, tal vez eso es cierto, pero a veces me gusta escribir sobre las cosas que necesito, los momentos que anhelo. Justo ahora, ansío inspiración, una gran ola de inspiración que detone millones de ideas. Estoy canalizando todo eso a través de mi collar de unicornio, porque los unicornios son magia, y crean magia y son transportadores de magia.

El atuendo que uso fue inspirado por los 50's-60's y una vibra rockanrollera pero modernizada un poquito. Me encanta la combinación que hacen el negro, blanco y crema y el unicornio le da un buen toque para contrastar la rudeza de la chamarra motociclista. La vida se trata de contrastes ¿no es así?

Así que, esperemos que algunas grandes olas de inspiración vengan a mí en los siguientes días, porque en serio las necesito para invertir en un proyecto a largo plazo que tengo bajo sábanas. Sabrán a lo que me refiero, eventualmente. ¡Henricorn fuera! PEACE!
