How to layer clothes

I always feel like girls have it easier when it comes to clothes. They have a lot more options. But one of the things that belongs to menswear and it has been among us for ages is the art of layering an outfit, especially clothes for winter.

It's an awesome way to put patterns, textures, colors, and all those pieces from our wardrobes together. Here in Seoul, I've experienced snow for the first time and, as much as I love it, it's bloody cold outside. So, I've become a sort of master when it comes to layering, or at least that's what I tell myself.

So, in the spirit of the holidays and the sharing of wisdom, here's an easy guide that will help you be a pro at layering in no time:

1. Start with a simple t-shirt, solid or with a mild print.
2. Add a lightweight layer. It can be a sweater, cardigan, shirt or vest.
3. The next layer comes in the form of a jacket or blazer.
4. This one's optional. If you're afraid of the cold, a coat or cape is recommended. I personally tend to go for an oversized one.
5. Accessorize with a neckpiece: a tie, bow tie, necklace or scarf are good options.

Remember, you don't want to look like a Christmas tree, so if you feel like you're wearing too many things, get rid of one or two until you feel comfortable. Like I always do with these styling posts, I will post my take on layers on an outfit tomorrow, here's my take on a layers outfit.
