Being part of groups has always been tough for me; normally because I don't necessarily like all the people within the group and I'm kind of forced to hang out with them at certain phases of my life. Think about your first days of high school or Uni, big groups tend to form to ensure safety, it's how nature works. Most of those groups, however, usually dissolve before the first year of school is done. The same thing happens at work and other similar environments, you see where I'm going with this, right?

What I commonly do is find the elements of the group that I like the most and start shaping my own sub-group; I mean, let's face it, it's way more likely that those fellas are the ones that will spend the most time with you and the ones with whom you'll form friendships. The key is to be polite with the rest of the group (and people, in general, politeness will take you a long, long, way) and trying to stay in the eye of the hurricane.

I love that idea, that there's a calm region at the center of a storm or hurricane where you can be safe. Big groups can feel a bit like that, like storms or hurricanes, trust me, the Mexican blogosphere has taught me that, so, I just keep my focus on finding the center, take my friends there and know that we'll all be okay.

Love always,
Hen.
