We have many different sides within our personalities. Think about it; no one is like a movie/soap opera/cartoon character that always dresses the same, that has super specific skills and traits that no one else has, no, that's not who we are. I believe this was a line from Shrek (haha): we're like onions, we have layers and layers... And it's okay to be like that, it's okay to not be unidimensional individuals.

Back when I was in middle and my early years of high school I got a bit confused and was kind of a mean kid. After you've been bullied for a long time (like I was), sometimes the only answer that comes to mind is to get tough and be mean to others so they fear and respect you. I was like that for a while and, thank the gods, I had a change of heart and decided that being mean was too much of a hassle, that it wasn't really who I was or the kind of person that I wanted to become.

After that, I toned down that side of my personality and decided to bring others to light: I chose to be nice. And, let me tell you, it was one of the smartest decisions I've made. Of course, I had to work hard at it but, eventually, it became natural to me. I'm a nice guy now and, sure, from time to time my dark side comes out and I get mean but I go back to being nice real soon because it's easier to be nice, to be kind. I don't know if that is ever going to make me a winner at life but it sure does allow me to sleep peacefully at night.
