Wolf or Sheep? (in partnership with The Idle Man)

I was talking to this friend about how I usually get hurt because I care too much about people. Sometimes it seems like being good and kind gets mistaken for something else, something bad, and people lash out on you because of that (even when you only have good intentions). I've been told by a few friends that I should be a bit meaner, harsher, but it's just not in me, I'm one of the good guys and I'm not sure if I'm ready to change that.

Of course, surviving means adapting to every scenario and being up to the challenges life presents and it's true that in a world of sheep and wolves, only one species survives, but, how willing are supposed to be to big changes like those? I think the answer relies on knowing when to act nice or (for the lack of a better world) be meaner. For a very long time I didn't like who I was and now I'm starting to see that being nicer has made me like myself a lot more so, no matter how difficult it will be, I decide to stay this way; however, I've also decided that I'll be a wolf when life requires me to be that way, not straight up mean, more like aware and clever.

I did this post in partnership with The Idle Man, a super cool store that sells tons of brands (including their own) and I got two pieces from their newest autumn collection. I was inspired by the whole wolf/sheep dichotomy and decided to showcase two different sides of me (you pick which one's which, haha). With this, in a certain way, I want to prove that you can be both things and adjust to any situation, it's about being smart and straying true to who you are without letting others hurt you or bring you down.

// Estaba platicando con un amigo sobre cómo preocuparme mucho por la gente me ha lastimado, seguido. A veces parece que ser bueno se confunde con algo más, algo malo, y la gente reacciona mal contra ti por eso (aún cuando únicamente tienes buenas intenciones). Varios amigos me han dicho que debería ser más malo, más rudo, pero eso no es lo que quiero ser, soy uno de los chavitos buenos y no estoy seguro de estar listo para cambiar eso.

Por supuesto, sobrevivir significa adaptarse a los distintos escenarios y estar a la altura de los desafíos que la vida pone en en camino y es cierto que en un mundo de ovejas y lobos, sólo una especie sobrevive, pero, ¿qué tan dispuestos estamos a hacer cambios grandes como esos? Creo que la respuesta yace en saber cuándo ser bueno o (a falta de una mejor palabra) ser más malvado. Por mucho tiempo no me agradó la persona que era y ahora estoy comenzando a notar que ser más amable me ha hecho apreciarme mucho más; entonces, sin importar qué tan difícil pueda ser, he decidido quedarme de esta manera; sin embargo, también he decidido que seré un lobo cuando la vida requiera que sea así, no malo tal cual, más bien despierto y astuto.

Hice este post en colaboración con The Idle Man, una tienda súper padre que vende muchas marcas (incluyendo una propia) y tuve dos piezas de su nueva colección de otoño. Me inspiré mucho en toda esta dicotomía de lobo y oveja  y decidí mostrar dos lados distintos de mí (ustedes dirán cuál es cuál, jaja). Con esto, en cierta forma, quiero probar que puedes ser ambas cosas y ajustarte a cualquier situación, se trata de ser listo y mantenerse honesto con quien eres, sin dejar que otras personas te hagan daño o te hagan caer.
