Hidden Corners: Zoma Tea Collection

Si me conocen, saben que el té es algo muy importante en mi vida. Tomo té todos los días (lo prefiero mil veces que al café) y siempre estoy en la búsqueda de buenos lugares de té con cosas interesantes; así es como llegué a Zoma Tea Collection (en la sucursal que tienen en Miyana, Polanco, en Ciudad de México). Lo primero que me impresionó mucho de este lugar es que tienen tea bowls, algo así como un acaí bowl pero con base de té, así que si les gustan los bowls tienen que ir a probar uno de esos. 

Sin embargo, para esta reseña me voy a concentrar en los tés y la comida (bagels). Un punto a favor que tiene Zoma es que tiene algo para cada situación; si quieres sentarte y tomar té de la tetera, puedes; si quieres algo para llevar, puedes; lo mismo sucede con la comida (aunque yo recomiendo ampliamente quedarse a comer ahí, los utensilios y platos son bonitos y Miyana es bastante cómodo). Tienen cientos de tés para elegir y, aunque pueda parecer abrumador, si no sabes cuál quieres, el equipo de ahí te ayudará a encontrar lo que quieres.

Yo tomé una tetera de Darjeeling (mi té negro favorito) y una de Oolong, para endulzarlo me trajeron los cristales de azúcar cande (y la versión molida) que ven en la foto de arriba. Decidí probar uno de los bagels, elegí el de pavo con queso y fue bueno. Una de las cosas que me gustan mucho de Zoma es que el foco está en los tés y la comida está diseñada para eso, para que tu experiencia de té sea el punto central. Seas un experto o un principiante, el mundo del té es versátil y te permite explorar un millón de sabores y momentos distintos. Los tés en Zoma tienen un precio justo (comparados con otros locales en el mismo centro comercial) y las porciones tanto en comida como bebida son suficientes para quedar satisfecho. Definitivamente es un buen lugar para alguien que quiere buen té y probar algo distinto a lo que hay en el mercado.

// If you know me, you know how important tea is for me. I drink it every single day (I'd choose it a million times over coffee) and I'm always trying to find cool tea spots; that's how I came into Zoma Tea Collection (in Polanco, Mexico City). The first thing that caught my eye was the tea bowls on the menu, something similar to an acai bowl but with tea as its base, so if you're into bowls, you definitely need to try one of those.

However, for this review, I'm going to focus on teas and food (bagels). A plus for Zoma is that they have something for every occasion; if you want to sit down and drink tea from the teapot, you can; if you want something to go, you can; same thing goes for the food (although I strongly recommend staying there for a while, the utensils and china are really pretty and Miyana is a comfortable place). Zoma has hundreds of teas for you to choose and, sure it might sound overwhelming, if you don't know what to select, the staff is really friendly and will lend you a hand.

I drank a full teapot of Darjeeling (my favourite back tea) and one Oolong, to sweeten them they brought this nib sugar crystals (extra points for presentation) that you can see above. I decided to try one of the bagels, the turkey and cheese one, it was pretty good. One of the things I like most about Zoma is that the focus lies on the tea and the food is designed around that, so the tea can be the main attraction. Whether you're an expert or a beginner, the tea world is pretty versatile and allows you to explore a million different flavours, a million different moments. The teas at Zoma are fairly priced (compared to the other options inside that mall) and the portions (food and drink) are enough to keep you satisfied. It's definitely a good spot for someone looking for good tea and try something new, something different.
