The Writer

I am, above all things, a writer. I write, it's what I do. I might be good at different things and really bad at others but writing is my haven, the place that I go back to when everything seems like too much. When people ask me what I studied or what I'm doing with my life, the answers vary but a fundamental part of them is that "my final goal is to write". That's the ultimate achievement. I know it in my bones, writing is what I'm meant to do.

And yes, I know it's a tough world out there for writers, but I've also seen that it can be wonderful. I dream of being published, of being asked to sign a book, on doing a group reading at some hipster book store. I want all those things and I'll keep fighting for them until my very last breath has left me. If it's something I really want to do, then I'll work as hard as possible to get there. I know I will, I know that crossing that finish line will be beautiful. 

// Soy, sobre todas las cosas, un escritor. Escribo, es lo que hago. Quizá sea bueno en ciertas cosas y malo en todas pero escribir es mi santuario, el lugar al que voy cuando todo parece abrumador. Cuando la gente me pregunta qué estudié o qué voy a hacer con mi vida, las respuestas varían pero una parte fundamental de éstas es que "mi meta final es escribir". Ése es el logro máximo. Lo siento en mi corazón, escribir es lo que estoy destinado a hacer.

Y sí, sé que es un mundo difícil allá afuera para los escritores, pero también he visto que puede ser maravilloso. Sueño con ser publicado, con que me pidan autografiar un libro, en hacer alguna lectura grupal en una librería hipster. Quiero todas esas cosas y lucharé por ellas hasta que mi último aliento haya dejado mi cuerpo. Si es algo que realmente quiero hacer, lucharé fuerte hasta llegar ahí. Sé que lo haré, sé que esa cruzar esa línea de meta será hermoso.
