Superman

Hey friends! So, one of my biggest sources of inspiration is American pop culture. I love superheroes and everything related to that but; I have a special place in my heart for one of the most iconic ones: Superman. A lot of my friends (and I think a lot of people out there too) think that Superman is kind of lame, being super powerful and everything, and often favor heroes like Batman (the one without superpowers). I don't know, I feel like Superman arrived in a time where hope was needed in the world and that's why, for the man of steel, nothing is impossible.

I also have a special relationship with Superman and his alter-ego: Clark Kent. His secret identity is a journalist and I'm a journalist. In some way, that makes me feel like I can accomplish more than I think, that I have my own set of superpowers. That's Superman giving me empowerment. For this outfit, I wanted to incorporate both sides of the same coin: a bit of Clark and a bit of Superman. 

I focused on what he wears when he's the simple man, the journalist. So, a blazer with a denim shirt (don't forget he grew up in a farm, y'all) with black jeans, brogues and, of course, the key piece: glasses. Maybe this is more of a fashion interpretation but it's the kind of semi-formal outfit I would wear to the office (a magazine or newspaper office). I also wanted to give my own spin to the super famous Superman pose, opening his shirt and getting ready to fly and fight evil. For me, Superman is both parts of this month's theme, a source of inspiration and a style reference.

Amo a los superhéroes y todo relacionado con ellos pero; tengo un lugar especial en im corazón para uno de los más icónicos: Superman. Muchos de mis amigos (y creo que mucha gente allá afuera también) piensan que Superman es chafa, siendo súper poderoso y todo, y constantemente prefieren héroes como Batman (él que no tiene súper poderes). Yo no sé, siento que Superman llegó en un momento donde el mundo necesitaba un poco de esperanza y es por eso que, para el hombre de acero, nada es imposible.

También tengo una relación especial con Superman y su alter-ego: Clark Kent. Su identidad secreta es un periodista y yo soy periodista. En cierta forma, eso me hace sentir que puedo lograr más de lo que imagino, que tengo mi propio set de súper poderes. Ahí está Superman dándome empoderamiento. Para este atuendo, quise incorporar ambos lados de la misma moneda: un poquito de Clark y un poquito de Superman.

Me concentré en lo que usa cuando es el hombre simple, el periodista. Así que usé un saco con una camisa de mezclilla (no olvidemos que él creció en una granja, y'all) con jeans negros, brogues y, por supuesto, la pieza clave: lentes. Quizá esto es más una interpretación de moda pero es el tipo de atuendo semi-formal que yo utilizaría para ir a la oficina (a una revista o un periódico). También quise darle mi propio giro a la pose súper famosa de Superman, abriendo la camisa y preparándose para volar y enfrentar al mal. Para mí, Superman es ambas partes del tema mensual, una fuente de inspiración y una referencia de estilo.
