The Captain

Life is filled with challenges, with responsibilities and choices waiting to be made. We spend a lot of time thinking about the things we'll do in the future, plans, goals, dreams... But most of the times, certain conditions appear and aid or harm our strategy. It's hard to make all the decisions by ourselves and I think that's why people tend to look for signs to reassure themselves about making the right choices.

I don't believe in God but I believe in energy and I do think destiny exists, although not as a set in stone future; destiny exists in the sense of perception, like when you feel you're on your way to achieving something great. That's why we "feel it in the air" when big things are coming up and because of that, it's crucial that we learn how to be captains of our ships, how to take control of our lives.

Like I said on this month's letter from the editor, August is stressful for me, with my birthday coming up in a few days, I keep questioning what am I doing with my life and what have I achieved in the past year. But one big decision I made this month was taking control of what I do, becoming the captain of my ship. I no longer want to wait for others to tell me what to do, it's about damn time for me to go out there and grab what I deserve.

// La vida está llena de desafíos, de responsabilidades y decisiones que esperan ser tomadas. Pasamos mucho tiempo pensando en las cosas que haremos en el futuro, planes, metas sueños... Pero la mayoría de las veces, ciertas cosas aparecen y ayudan o retrasan nuestras estrategias. Es difícil tomar todas las decisiones solos y creo que es por eso que la gente tiende a buscar señales para reafirmarse a sí mismos que están haciendo lo correcto.

No creo en Dios pero sí en la energía y creo que el destino existe, aunque no como un futuro tallado en piedra; el destino existe en forma de percepción, com cuando sientes que estás en camino a lograr algo increíble. Es por eso que "sentimos en el aire" cuando grandes cosas se avecinan y es por eso que debemos aprender a ser capitanes de nuestros barcos, a tomar el control de nuestras vidas.

Como dije en la carta del editor de este mes, Agosto es un mes de estrés, con mi cumpleaños a unos días de distancia, me la paso preguntando qué estoy haciendo con mi vida y qué he logrado en el último año. Pero una decisión grande que tomé este mes fue tomar control de lo que hago, convertirme en el capitán de mi barco. Ya no quiero esperar a que otros me digan lo que tengo qué hacer porque ya es hora de que vaya al mundo y tome lo que merezco.
