Whatever you do, do it with a punch...
Once upon a time, I was an assistant teacher and I remember talking about commitment with my students. I told them that whatever they do, they must do it with a strong will, with passion; take risks, fight and pack a punch to every single thing you care about. Having a possibility and actually choosing to do something are different things, the latter requires commitment, and I feel like that's one of the strongest personality traits we can develop.
It's not about picking one path and sticking to it 'til the day you die, you know? It's okay to change your mind midway; but being able to choose something, to say something and have strong beliefs and actions behind that is a really valuable thing. If you're going to do something, commit to your cause, do it with passion, with heart, without caring about what others may say. That's April's theme: commitment, the agreement to do something, engaging to a cause, seeing something from start to its finishing point.
During the past few weeks, the idea of commitment is something that has been roaming my mind a lot. Whether it's about making decisions and sticking to them when it comes to love or being responsible and staying true to your words, commitment is a very important thing to me in this particular point of my life. Realising who can and who can't put their words where their mouth is, which friends are reliable and which aren't. Commitment (or the lack of) is starting to become a key point in my life and the relationships I partake in, that's why I plan to delve further into the matter. Lo que sea que hagas, hazlo con ganas...
Hace ya un tiempo, fui asistente de profesor y recuerdo haber hablado con mis alumnos sobre el compromiso. Les dije que, hagan lo que hagan, deben actuar con gran fuerza de voluntad, con pasión; tomar riesgos, luchar y hacerlo con ganas en cada cosa que les importe. Tener una posibilidad y realmente elegir algo son cosas distintas, la segunda requiere compromiso y siento que eso es una de las características de personalidad más fuertes que podemos desarrollar.
No se trata de elegir un camino y mantenerte ahí hasta que mueras ¿sabes? Está bien cambiar de opinión a medio camino; pero ser capaz de elegir algo, de decir algo y tener argumentos fuertes y acciones detrás de eso es realmente valioso. Si vas a hacer algo, comprométete con tu causa, hazlo con pasión, con corazón, sin importar lo que los demás puedan decir. Ése es el tema de abril: compromiso, el acuerdo de hacer algo, involucrarse con una causa, ver algo de principio hasta su fin.
Durante las últimas semanas, la idea de compromiso es algo que ha rondado mucho mi mente. Ya sea sobre tomar decisiones y apegarse a ellas cuando se trata de amor o ser responsable y mantenerte fiel a tus palabras, el compromiso es algo muy importante para mí en este momento específico de mi vida. Darte cuenta de quién puede y quién no cumplir lo que dice, de qué amigos puedes depender y con cuáles no cuentas. El compromiso (o la falta de) se está comenzando a volver un punto clave en mi vida y las relaciones que llevo, por eso pienso indagar más en esto. Espero que elijan hacer lo mismo y quedarse conmigo durante el mes. Como una nota adicional, hay una nueva lista de canciones esperándolos, sólo tienen que hacer click aquí y disfrutar (:
