"I just met the love of my life"

Wisdom #22 I just met the love of my life
For all of those out there who actually know me in real life, you've probably heard me saying the title of this post quite a lot throughout my life. I fall in love so easily (99% of times, my heart ends up broken) and this year wasn't the exception. If you follow me on social media, you know that I'm in Sacramento spending the winter holidays with my mom; my life has revolved around shopping and eating junk food... And, also, falling in love.

I'm not going to go deep into details but I think I just met the love of my life! Haha. She's quirky, cool, really pretty and I love her already. Well, not love her but I am attracted to her. That's all good and everything but, you know what? She doesn't like me back and I have zero chances with her. But, despite being sad about that, I think that falling in love once in a while makes you feel alive and it's good for the soul. If something happens along the way, I'll let you know. PS: Sorry if this post is weird. Happy Holidays!

¡Felices fiestas!
Love always,
Henry.

A lonely road 6
Throughout this month, I've been focusing on the positive aspects of having people that you love around you, but, now I want to tackle something a bit different: what happens when you don't have that? When you're walking a lonely road with no one else around? Well, I think there are two ways of looking at situations like that: you're alone because you haven't found the people you're looking for  and neither have them OR you're alone because you choose to be alone.

A few months ago, I had a conversation with my sister and I told her that I'm becoming more and more practical with my emotions and I've decided that if someone isn't adding anything to my life, I'll kick that person out of it, it doesn't matter if that person has been my friend for ages or if he/she is a part of my family. I've realised that I don't need any energy draining from anybody and that's why, if the time comes, I will be okay with being alone.

The other route is tricky as well; I've met people that, for one reason or the other, can't manage to socialise and function around others; I'm pretty sure you've met someone like that: they can be awkward, or annoying or rude... For some reason, people seem to avoid them. If you're not okay with being alone, sometimes it's important to make an effort and modify certain aspects of your personality, that will make it easier for you and for others to gather and start creating bonds, start making friendships happen.

Gratitude

Life Journal 52 Gratitude is the quality of being thankful, having a readiness to show appreciation for, and to return, kindness. December is always a special month because of the holidays, it's a time for reflection because the year's at its end and; it's also a time to think about the good things that happened throughout the year. It's a good time to have gratitude.

December isn't usually the most peaceful month though, people get stressed about Christmas, about dinner parties, about presents. It doesn't have to be this way. Every day of the final month of the year can be spent in a different way, appreciating life, appreciating all that's good: the quick family breakfasts, the laughs at the holiday parties. Gratitude towards everything in the universe that allow us to wake up for one more day, towards each other, towards ourselves.

Love always,
Henry.
