Fire and Blood

I watch a lot of superhero shows and (in almost every single one of them) the idea of creating justice on your own is frowned upon. Sure, the super hero in turn fights the bad guys and doesn't wait for the police to chase criminals or stuff like that but they rarely decide upon their enemy's fate, they usually end locked up in a special facility or things like that. They get out later in the season and mess things up for the protagonists and I just wonder: why are superheroes always doing the same thing instead of getting rid of the source of evil? Why don't they just eliminate the threat?

And here's where Game of Thrones comes to mind. I'm a big fan of the show and have been watching since the first weekend it got released, a few years ago... And one character says at one point: "I will take what's mine. I will take it with fire and blood" and that got me thinking about how sometimes we forget to fight for what we want and we leave our destinies in the hands of others, instead of making our own justice and getting what we deserve.

Life has never been easy for me, I'm not the luckiest guy around, but the other day (in the middle of a crisis) I thought about how I can't allow myself to be defeated by life, about how if life is a fight, I will fight every round and take what's mine, with fire and blood. I've never been a quitter and no matter how rough or difficult things get at times, I know that I have to keep fighting, that we have to keep fighting, and, if that means creating my own sense of justice then so be it.

Claro, el superhéroe en turno pelea con los malos y no espera que la policía los persiga o cosas así pero rara vez deciden el destino de sus enemigos, quienes usualmente terminan encerrados en alguna facilidad especial o cosas así. Salen más tarde en la temporada y arruinan muchas cosas para los protagonistas, es ahí cuando me pregunto: ¿por qué los superhéroes siempre hacen lo mismo en lugar de deshacerse de la raíz del mal? ¿Por qué no eliminan la amenaza?

Y aquí es donde Game of Thrones entra a mi mente. Soy muy fan del show y lo he visto desde el primer fin de semana que salió, hace ya varios años... Y uno de los personajes dice en algún momento: "Tomaré lo que es mío. Lo tomaré con fuego y sangre" y eso me puso a pensar en cómo a veces olvidamos pelear por lo que queremos y dejamos nuestro destino en manos de alguien más, en lugar de hacer nuestra propia justicia y conseguir lo que merecemos.

La vida nunca ha sido fácil para mí, no soy la persona con más suerte en el mundo, pero el otro día (en medio de una crisis) pensé en cómo no me puedo permitir ser derrotado, sobre cómo si la vida es una pelea, voy a pelear todas las rondas y tomar lo que es mío, con fuego y sangre. Nunca he sido de los que se rinden y no importa qué tan rudas o difíciles se pongan las coas, sé que debo seguir peleando, sé que debemos seguir peleando y, si eso significa crear mi propia definición de justicia, entonces que así sea.
