Hidden Corners: Pleno

Restaurante Pleno Review It's been ages since the last time I did a restaurant review but, fear not, the thing is I'm always waiting to find those truly hidden corners in Mexico City where you can have an amazing meal and spend quality time enjoying your food and surroundings. This time, I bring you PLENO, an international cuisine kind of restaurant, located in the hip Condesa neighbourhood.

PLENO is really cool because it feels hidden and private, and also because there's something in the menu for everyone. If you're a bit on the safer side, they have pizza... If you're riskier, you can order order cobia fish with pulque and spicy peppers. But, let me warn you, they're specialty comes in the shape of meat: steaks, sandwiches, you name it. I had a three-course meal along with a Gin & Tonic, read below for details:

Restaurante Pleno Review 2 Restaurante Pleno Review 3 The first course was a pizza with tomato, blue cheese and roasted duck. This is a perfect appetiser for two people. The pizza is thin crust (I'm a deep dish man) but this won me over and set us to a great start. Now the second course, and this is the reason I would go back to PLENO many many times, was a duck sandwich with gouda cheese and peaches; it arrived with a sliced roasted potato and some veggies. THIS WAS DELICIOUS. It's the best duck sandwich I've ever had in my life; the duck was cooked perfectly and it had so much cheese... So much cheese...

For dessert, even though I was already full and I knew nothing could top the duck sandwich, I had cronuts with berries and coffee sauce. I'm a big fan of cronuts but these were a bit of a let-down, I liked them but I wouldn't order them again. I think next time I'll try the mascarpone carrot cake. Or maybe I was drunk in love with that duck sandwich and couldn't accept anything else anymore. So much cheese...

Tanto queso...
