When The Cherry Blossoms Fade 4 The final days of a trip are always really weird. You start to think about all the things that you weren't able to do, all the chances you missed and how you're going to be back home soon. My final week in Japan was really strange: first up, I wasn't able to return to Mexico on the date I planned and I ended up staying for an extra week; secondly, I used Couch Surfing and stayed at an apartment with a Brazilian guy, I lived the way a local does in Tokyo.

My schedule became really different, I was no longer on my own and I did my best to accomplish as many things as possible. That week was when everything became unpredictable, I didn't know if I was going go make it back home during the weekend, I also was introduced to a whole new group of people, with their own mechanics, all of them living in Tokyo permanently. It was different, but still good, I think.

Now that I think about it, staying in Tokyo that extra week allowed me to fulfil one of my childhood dreams: I was able to see the Japanese cherry trees and snap some photos with them in the background, that was incredible. But, when the cherry blossoms faded, so did my time in Tokyo. I had to get ready and say goodbye to people, to places, to a city that snatched a piece of my heart. When the cherry blossoms fade, a part of my soul does too.
