United Colors of Benetton Fall/Winter 2014

This week, I was invited to see the Fall/Winter 2014 collection from United Colors of Benetton; it divides in three categories: YOUNG, SOPHISTICATED and; URBAN. The first has a strong collegiate vibe; the second is inspired on fairytales and witches and; the third is a mix of pieces that can move between the other two.

I really enjoyed the men's collection; the Benetton guy is a pretty cool dude. It was a bit grungy, with skinny jeans, plaid shirts and boots, but also kind of fancy with printed jumpers and wool coats. On the ladies' side, my favorite area was the sophisticated one, that's my kind of girl, really feminine, soft and flowy fabrics, sparkles and prettiness. Haha.

I always thought United Colors of Benetton was more on the basic/sporty side but this presentation changed my mind. I really liked the quality of the products and the strong fashion sense behind every concept. I can really see myself buying some pieces soon, and that feels good.

Thanks to Business Boutique for making this event happen.

Tokyo Photo Journals. Last part: Shibuya.

Yogi Berra, famous baseball player, once said "it ain't over 'til it's over" and, sadly for me, Tokyo is now over. This is the last photo journal I made, focusing on Shibuya or, as I call it, "the place where all the Japanese people are"; for real, the streets are crowded and I mean CROWDED. I went there on a monday and there were people everywhere, and all the time I was like "aren't they tired from work or something? Guess not."

I was told Shibuya was better at night and the lights on the streets prove that right. Everything is prettier in Shibuya; even stores like Bershka look really cool. I went to a cool supermarket inside the subway station and bought some amazing things, including Vegemite, an orange and champagne marmalade and milk jam. If you ever have the chance, try them, they're delicious.

I did my final batch of shopping at H&M and got some awesome stuff you'll see soon. I also ate a nice, cheap, burger at Fresh Burger and got lost like a million times (but not really lost, you know what I mean). Shibuya was the perfect place to spend my last day on Tokyo. I know that I want to go back as soon as I can, possibly with some friends. I would've love to see things that require friends, haha, like clubs and stuff. Anyways, Japan is an amazing country and Tokyo is my favorite city in the world (so far).

If you're wondering what I wore that day, please refer to this post.

Aparentemente no.

I hope you enjoyed these photos as much as I did by taking them.
Love always,
Hen.

Tokyo Photo Journals Part II: Minato.

The second photo journal focuses on Minato, a city in Japan that contains (amongst others) the Tokyo Tower and Roppongi, a part of town with many foreigners. Visiting the tower was a dream of mine and I love how you can see it from different areas, it's really beautiful. I went up (around 3/4 of its total height) to take a look of Tokyo and that was amazing. The tower's two mascots are also pretty adorable.

After that, I went to Roppongi, where I found tons of pubs, US restaurants and Roppongi Hills, a really nice mall that's kind of empty. It's odd but cool at the same time. There's a lot of lights, on the trees, on the streets, on the fountains. I found it very pretty. Also, cool supermarkets are all around this area. I love super markets, they can really teach you stuff from a country and how people live there.

Tokyo Photo Journals. Part I: Harajuku.

As promised, here is the first of my Tokyo photo journals. This time, the focus is on Harajuku, one of the main districts for fashion and culture. To get to Harajuku, you must cross the Meiji Shrine (such a beautiful place) and, if you really want to see cool stores and window displays, you have to enter every alley way you find. Those are golden.

Harajuku was, hands down, my favorite area within Tokyo. I tried to capture everything that made it special in my eyes. I hope you enjoy this photo journal and; stay tuned, there's more where this came from. To see my outfit post from Harajuku, visit this link.

Ginza: Luxury District.

I'm wearing:

1. Gray biker jacket, from H&M.
2. Plaid shirt, also from H&M.
3. Polka dot t-shirt, from 8 Seconds Korea.
4. Super skinny jeans in light blue, from H&M.
5. Sequined sneakers, from Vans.
6. Winter fur snood, from Zara.
On the fourth day of my trip to Tokyo I visited Ginza, another fashion-related district. Ginza is quite different from Harajuku, it's way more luxurious. Ginza is the place where you'll find Chanel, Miu Miu and all the other designer brands, along with several flagship stores for brands like H&M, Sony and Uniqlo. The biggest Uniqlo store is located here with twelve floors of goods, plus the building is an architectural masterpiece.

I was there on a weekend, which is the best time to get to know the streets of Ginza, and the roads are closed completely so people can walk safely. That's why my photos were taken on the middle of the street and there are no cars passing by. People stared and giggled and stuff but I've learned not to care about it. If the place looks great, I'm taking photos there. I even managed to make a friend! Ha! A nice elderly man approached me and asked if I was a model/photographer, turned out he was a photographer and owned a school! Artists lure artists, right?

I met up with a Japanese friend who took me to dinner at an-all Japanese restaurant (where I ended up eating fried chicken, thinking I would receive an exotic dish), visited some great pastry shops and the ever amazing Kabuki-za Theater, the most famous theater in Tokyo for traditional kabuki drama plays. Final thoughts: Ginza is awesome when you're loaded with cash; the pastry shops are awesome and; Uniqlo has the best building of the area. Amen.

Minato: The entertainment district.

I'm wearing:

1. Black cape, from H&M.
2. "Shoo Shoo Honey" sweatshirt, from Lacoste Live.
3. Striped t-shirt, from Gap.
4. Super skinny jeans in black, from Asos.
5. Gold Converse sneakers, from Ragtag.
6. Fox necklace, from titiMadam.
7. Rings, from H&M.
Some people dream to see the Eiffel Tower, right? Well, my dream has always been the Tokyo Tower. I remember seeing it in Card Captor Sakura, Digimon and Sailor Moon (yeah, I watched those kind of cartoon shows when I was little) and falling in love with it. I mean, just look at it, it takes your breath away, doesn't it? The Tokyo Tower is on Minato, a district that has many amazing places, like Odaiba, Roppongi or the Pokemon Center. Whaaa?

That's right. On day three of my trip, I visited the Tokyo Pokemon Center, which I thought was gonna be more than a gift store (but wasn't), it was pretty cool though. I can say that my childhood is complete now. I like Pokemon, they're really cool. Nothing wrong with that. After spending a good hour between Eevee evolutions, I went to Roppongi, which is more of a foreigner area with tons of pubs, restaurants and great super markets. I ate sushi, drank white grape soda and witnessed tons of pretty city lights. A post with those photos will come soon, along with the Harajuku one.

I decided to shoot outfit photos with the Tokyo Tower on the background because it looks amazing and I couldn't waste the opportunity. I also took some photos outside the Pokemon Center with its mascots. Nice chaps. I'm wearing an actual cape, I love it, and the Converse from Ragtag that I mentioned on a previous post. While I didn't fall in love with Minato the way I did with Harajuku, I did find it awesome and, I also, reassured my love for the Tokyo Tower. It was a really nice day.

Love always,
Hen.
