Time Stood Still

Two souls have met each other, without even direct physical interaction. They've known each other for quite some time. Their paths have crossed, they've been in the same places. He saw her one day, he felt something after being numb for many years; she didn't acknowledge him at first but, after a while, she saw him, really saw him.

When they were together, it was magical, time stood still, everything was eternal. But life doesn't give without taking and through her wild gaze, deep down, he knew that they were meant to be and, at the same time, meant to fall apart. Time stood still for a long period, seasons passed, emotions changed.
She walked away, he moved on, he survived.

This was a collaboration I did with my newest blogger friend: Sofia, from My Philosophie. It was a blast to shoot and I think we really see eye to eye when it comes to our profession. Also a part of this collaboration, and I love this, are two Instagramers/photographers with huge talent: Aaron Walls and Luis "Bigotes de Lince". Be sure to check all of these new friends, they're amazing people.
Working together, collaborating, that's the future, that will make us eternal.

Dark & Moody

Dark and moody
Dark and moody 5 I'm wearing:

1. Slim fit blazer in black, from United Colors of Benetton.
2. Longline see through sweater in black, from Asos.
3. Super skinny jeans in black, from H&M.
4. Suede wrinkled Chelsea boots in black, from Asos.
5. Oversized clubmasters, from Ray Ban.
6. Rings, from Asos & H&M.
Dark and moody 3 "When in doubt, wear black", "Black is my happy color", "I'm in all black, like my soul", those three are phrases that I often say to refer to my style (or my soul, apparently), and here's why: I love black, I think it's flattering, makes my skin look paler and elongates my body. I'm not the tallest guy out there at just 5'8, but I try to make my proportions look good, you know? Black garments help with that.

I think black skinny jeans are my signature piece; if you browse through this blog, you should notice that. I have 6 or 7 different pairs and I'm always hunting for more. I think they're the most flattering trousers you can find out there.  All-black outfits, while apparently simple enough, can be tricky. I think it's important to have different textures and materials on your outfit to make that stand out and not look like a piece of coal.

I wore this and, from the back, it looked a bit safe but, when you see the front, you can actually catch a glimpse of skin, a stretched knit helped me achieve that. I also like how the wrinkles from the boots seem to integrate with the trousers from the front, but if you see it from the sides, you notice the zippers and that breaks the illusion. All-black outfits are about that, you know, illusions and also, about expressing your current mood. I like to be moody and dark from time to time.

YouTube monthly recap: October

Hey fellas! Let's recap all the videos that went online on my YouTube channel during the month of October. This month I sort of realised that I'm becoming better at this Youtuber thing; I feel more relaxed and comfortable; I think that's being reflected on the videos.

During October, I talked about things that I love, like books and the life I had in Seoul, plus some insight on how bloggers make a living and some product recommendations. Hope you guys like this and, if you do, come on board and subscribe to my channel for more useful or silly or fun stuff. I'll be waiting for you over there, okay? Thanks very much for all the support and I'll see you next month, when it's time to recap November.

// ¡Hey chavos!

Beautiful Soul (a collab project with Frank Wright)

Beautiful Soul a collaboration with Frank Wright shoes 7 I'm wearing:

2. Wide brim hat in black, from H&M.
3. Sweatshirt in grey, selected by David Beckham for H&M.
4. Slim fit chinos in black, from Zara.
5. Slim fit shirt in white, from Spicy Color Korea.

Hackman fedora, from Rag & Bone / Allover embroidered sweatshirt, from Carven / Ombre shirt, from Etudes Studio / West point chinos, from Wings + Horns.
Beautiful Soul a collaboration with Frank Wright shoes 2 Beautiful Soul a collaboration with Frank Wright shoes 6 This is the second part of my latest collaboration with Frank Wright. I told you before that I was incredibly excited and happy about them bringing sneakers into their collection and I chose to feature a great pair of white leather ones. As much as I love black (you know, I wear black 5 or 6 days a week), it feels nice to incorporate white into the mix. Something about it makes me feel sharp and clean instead of the moody and edgy vibe black gives me.

We're reaching an era where dress codes are more and more flexible: you can be smart casual and still be wearing sneakers and a sweatshirt. I love that, since I've always been a big fan of sneakers. Everything's about how well can you match your garments and still look presentable and appropriate for the occasion. Nothing worse than being underdressed, you know?

What more can I say about Frank Wright? It's my favourite shoe brand and I'm always eager to work with them time after time. I guess it shows... When you really like something, that fondness goes to your soul and it reflects beautifully on the outside. That's right, Frank Wright has a special place not only in my wardrobe, but also in my heart. They recently featured me on their website's new #StyleEdit section, be sure to check that out by clicking here and, while you're there, get yourself a nice new pair of kicks to conquer the world!

The Other Side

Some people think romance is dead. Some people think that things actually end. That creativity is gone and cleverness is useless; that you need to find the needle in the hay to actually accomplish something. I don't think that's true. I have a lot more to say about this but I'm going to stick to fashion, because that's what I promised for this month.

In fashion, we adapt one trend and then another. The cycle goes on and on. This past ten years have been about recycling and recreating past silhouettes, past incarnations of fashion. Why does that happen? I'm not sure. Why do things like norm core or what ever style Miley Cyrus at the moment is in set a pattern for people to follow? I think the greatest thing about our era is the fact that you can find inspiration anywhere. We're inside the hay, we are the needle. It's only a matter of looking at things form the other side, from a different perspective.

No estoy seguro.
Love always,
Henry.

One For The Team (in collaboration with Dirty Velvet)

One for the team in collaboration with Dirty Velvet
One for the team in collaboration with Dirty Velvet 7 I'm wearing:

3. Super skinny jeans in grey acid wash, from Pull & Bear.
4.  Weberville hi top sneakers in mid blue leather, from ALDO.
5. Wrap-up leather bracelet, from Coach.
One for the team in collaboration with Dirty Velvet 2We make different choices every day, some small, some big. Some, we don't even notice. When we're getting ready, we make a choice: that jacket, those trousers, stuff like that. When we're shopping, we choose one garment over others. How conscious are you of said choices? How aware of the consequences? I teamed up with Dirty Velvet for this post and I'll let you know why.

Dirty Velvet is a design collective, based in the UK, that creates graphic t-shirts and pullovers with 100% organic cotton. The main differentiator between Dirty Velvet and other brands is that they put a lot of thought behind the imagery on their pieces. It's clever, it's provoking. I like that. I've said it before and I'll say it again: fashion is a way of expressing yourself without having to speak. When the things you wear are standing up for something that you avail, then it's a small victory for you and a big one for the cause.

One of the things I like most about Dirty Velvet is their design aesthetic. The images on the t-shirts and sweatshirts not only give a message, but also look cool. That's important, because they're translating strong ideas into wearable pieces that people enjoy. They're an ethical brand. Whenever you look at a Dirty Velvet garment, think beyond and find the message at the core. Think about cat fishing, about hunger, about our society and the choices we make everyday. Incorporate that into your personal style, stand up for the things you believe in. Conquer the world.

Mundane Pleasures

Mundane Pleasures Costco
Mundane Pleasures Costco 6 I'm wearing:

1. Mesh bomber jacket in blue, from H&M.
2. Longline lightweight sweater in gray, from Asos.
3. Super skinny jeans in black, from Dr. Denim.
4. Barnett chukka boots in grey, from Frank Wright.

Genova suede Chelsea boots, from Doucal's / Bomber Jacket, from Ben Sherman / Mick skinny jeans, from J Brand / Playoff sweater, from Carhartt WIP.
Mundane Pleasures Costco 3 Most of my time in Seoul, I wanted to live like a local, discover the culture and customs, feel Korean. Once in a blue moon, I felt homesick and not necessarily of my country, it was nostalgia for a place to call home. When that happened, and I think this is going to sound funny, I went to the one place I felt like home: Costco.

I'm telling the truth. I love Costco because it's the same in every country, they have the same items you'd find at your local Costco (plus, some amazing local ones) and even the food tastes the same. The best pizza I had in Korea (a bulgogi pizza) was at Costco. I truly have a special relationship with this store, it saved my life many times and allowed me to not starve and save some money. Costco is a place where I feel safe, protected, it's my mundane pleasure and, I figured, why don't make a photo-shoot over there?

I'm pretty sure you've seen stuff inspired by supermarkets before and the reason behind it is that supermarkets are a big part of every country's culture. People spend lots of time over there; it's the one place where you can find tons of local products. But Costco is a warehouse store, one that looks the same in every country. What's so special about it? It's exactly that, it's the same here and in Japan and in Canada. Costco is an eternal memory we possess, therefore, a perfect set for a batch of cool photos. Don't be afraid to take a risk and share your love for something, no matter how strange it may sound, it's a part of you and part of your sources of inspiration.

Mundane Pleasures Costco 2 Mundane Pleasures Costco 7 Mundane Pleasures Costco 4 Mundane Pleasures Costco 5 Love (Costco) always,
Henry.

Book Club #17: Noted

Hello hello, best friends! By now you should know that I'm doing an online book club, right here on the blog. While it's not tightly related to fashion, reading is one of my favorite activities and I do think people within the fashion industry (and everyone else too, really) need to read things other than magazines. This title is a bit different from what I usually feature here; normally, I read to escape, to live other lives, but this book is all about you, getting inspiration, working with ideas. It was truly refreshing. Book Club #17 is Noted, by Adam Turnbull.

// ¡Hola, hola, mejores amigos!
Noted by Adam Turnbull Review Noted by Adam Turnbull Review 2
We all have our moments... There are times when our creative juices aren't flowing and we get stuck, that turns intro frustration and anger. Even if we're lazy at times, the truth is, we all want to be successful, we all want to work our issues and become better versions of ourselves. As you may, or may not, know, I'm an aspiring writer, I want to become a novelist and that, my friends is no easy task.

From time to time, I face what people call writer's block, it sucks. I spend weeks, even months, without writing a word, because I don't feel competent enough, I don't feel like I'm going to produce something amazing. That's when Noted comes into the picture. It's, as the cover says, a journal to explore how we shape, create and develop ideas. It's one of those books you're suppose to write (draw, doodle, paint...) on; filled with exercises to stimulate your creativity.

Of course, I'm not done with it yet, how can I be done with it? Ideas keep coming, flowing, developing. Noted is a great tool to become inspired, to force you (in a fun-friendly way) to write what you're thinking, what you're seeing; to plan and to think about the future. Essentially, to have fun with your ideas and their evolution. Inspiration comes and turns into ideas, it's up to us to materialize those and making our dreams come true.

Catch Me If You Can (Frank Wright Collab)

Catch me if you can Frank Wright sneakers review
Catch me if you can Frank Wright sneakers review 6 I'm wearing:

2. Leather biker jacket in black, from H&M.
3. Color block sweatshirt in black with gold panel, from Zara.
4. Super skinny jeans in black, from Dr. Denim.
5. Spiked bracelet, from H&M.
6. Rings, also from H&M.
Catch me if you can Frank Wright sneakers review 3 It's no secret that, through the years, Frank Wright has become my favourite brand of shoes. I've said it time and time again, the designs are amazing, the quality is extraordinary and, best of all, everything is fairly priced. I proudly own many pairs of boots that you've seen over here quite a bit but the one thing Frank Wright didn't have was a line of sneakers. Well, that has changed now.

Within their newest collection, I noticed that Frank Wright introduced sneakers! That, my friends, was such a pleasant surprise. I saw these babies and fell in love with them in a second. I'm a huge fan of sneakers, particularly hi tops, and (I'm still baffled by this), a minimalistic, cool pair is incredibly hard to find. They're usually over designed, you know? But the guys from Frank Wright did these designs right. They're the perfect pair of hi tops, in black leather with white soles and nothing else: simple, smart, sharp.

Hi top sneakers are a really good piece to have in your wardrobe, they look good with almost everything, are comfortable and will never, ever, hurt your ankles or tendons. They're, basically, your best friends. To celebrate this new step for Frank Wright, I decided to do an action photoshoot that feels very urban. I feel these photos embody the city vibe (which is in line with a pair of sneakers' purpose of conquering the city) perfectly. Leather, gold, movement. Catch me if you can.

Piel, oro, movimiento. Atrápenme si pueden.
