First and Last

New things are always exciting, don't you think? There's a bit of mystery shrouding everything about them, you never really know what's going to happen and it's always thrilling to see what's behind the curtain. I guess that's where gameshows get their popularity (or got, in the past, I don't know if they're still a thing nowadays, haha), unveiling new things gives us a rush that few things in life can mimic.

But first times can also be scary: it's taking a step into a new world, into unknown territory. One of my favourite mantras lately is that everything in life comes with a price and it's up to us if we want to pay it to get where we think we want to be; experimenting gives us wisdom and knowledge, even when the results aren't always positive, and that's the only way to stop being rookies and start becoming seniors at the different tasks that may come upon our way. We pay the price of gaining experience.

First times are only new once, after that, they become part of our everydayness, we achieve better (or worse) results and keep on doing that until we can't go any further, that's when last times occur. A big lesson life has taught me recently is that you rarely know when last times are happening, that's why it's important to reach out and create as many opportunities to do stuff as we can. We're living in a world where success doesn't just happen overnight, we need to get up, make an effort and fulfil as many dreams and hopes we have within reach, making sure we enjoy the lasts as much as the firsts.

// Las nuevas cosas siempre son emocionantes, ¿no lo creen? Hay un poquito de misterio rodeando todo sobre ellas, nunca sabes realmente qué va a suceder y siempre es padre ver qué hay detrás de la cortina. Creo que de ahí viene la popularidad de los programas de juegos (o vino, en el pasado, ya no sé si todavía son relevantes hoy en día, jaja), revelar nuevas cosas nos da un rush que pocas cosas en esta vida pueden imitar.

Pero las primeras veces también pueden dar miedo: es dar un paso en un nuevo mundo, en territorio desconocido. Uno de mis mantras favoritos últimamente es que todo en esta vida tiene un precio y está en nosotros decidir si queremos pagarlo para llegar a donde creemos que queremos ir; experimentar nos da sabiduría y conocimiento, aún cuando los resultados no siempre sean positivos, y así es la única forma en que dejamos de ser novatos y vamos volviéndonos más aptos en las diferentes tareas que la vida nos pone en frente. Pagamos el precio de ganar experiencia.

Las primeras veces sólo son nuevas una vez, después de eso, se vuelven parte de nuestra cotidianidad, logramos mejores (o peores) resultados y seguimos haciendo eso hasta que ya no podemos ir más lejos, ahí es cuando ocurren las últimas veces. Una gran lección que la vida me ha enseñado recientemente es que rara vez sabes cuando las últimas veces van a suceder, por eso es importante salir y crear tantas oportunidades para hacer cosas como podamos. Vivimos en un mundo donde el éxito no pasa de la noche a la mañana, es necesario levantarnos, hacer un esfuerzo y cumplir tantos sueños tengamos a nuestro alcance, asegurándonos de disfrutar tanto las últimas veces como las primeras.
